At BHBD, we believe that hair is more than just an accessory—it’s a part of our identity, confidence, and self-expression. Through the BHBD Foundation, we are committed to giving back to those who need it the most, supporting women who have experienced hair loss due to medical conditions.

In our latest giveaway, we had the privilege of meeting two incredible women, Jessica and Isabell, who each have their own unique journeys with hair loss. Their stories remind us of the emotional impact hair can have—and the power of a well-fitted wig in restoring confidence and self-love.

Jessica’s Story: A Surprise That Changed Everything

Jessica, from Ekerö, was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy, which led to hair loss. It was her daughter, a hairdresser, who introduced her to BHBD. Without Jessica knowing, her daughter entered her into our giveaway, leading to an unexpected but life-changing surprise.

“I never win anything. I couldn’t believe it, it felt surreal,” Jessica shared, still processing the moment.

Before receiving her new wig, Jessica had tried options from other sources but found they didn’t look or feel natural. That changed when she put on her BHBD wig.

“It’s night and day compared to what I tried before. It’s basically like my own hair, I can’t even see the difference. It’s absolutely incredible.”

Through her journey, Jessica has found strength in the support of her family. Her daughter even helped shave her head, standing by her side through the emotional process. While hair loss is a difficult challenge, receiving a wig that looks and feels natural has helped her regain a sense of normalcy.

“When I look in the mirror without my hair, I sometimes don’t recognize myself. But now, with this wig, I see ‘me’ again. It’s amazing how much hair is tied to identity, especially for us women.”

Isabell’s Story: Rebuilding Confidence After Alopecia

Isabell, a 28-year-old from Malmö, has Alopecia Areata, an autoimmune condition that causes hair loss in patches. She was diagnosed when she was in fifth grade, and over time, her hair loss worsened, impacting her self-esteem.

Her hairstylist first introduced her to BHBD’s extensions, but as her hair loss progressed, she needed a better solution. That’s when she discovered our realistic wigs and became a part of the giveaway.

“It felt like a dream come true. Losing my hair affected my confidence so much, and getting a wig that actually looks and feels like my own hair is incredible.”

Before receiving her new wig, Isabell tried toppers, which clip onto existing hair. However, as her hair loss became more extensive, those were no longer an option. With her BHBD wig, she finally felt comfortable styling her hair again.

“The first time I put it on, I looked in the mirror and thought, ‘Wow.’ I was skeptical before, but now I can’t believe how natural it looks. I can run my fingers through it, style it in different ways, and not feel restricted like I did before.”

Beyond receiving a wig, Isabell has also found strength in community. She connected with others through an Alopecia support group on Facebook, where she finally met people who understood her experience.

“I never had a friend with Alopecia before, so it was hard for others to truly understand. Being able to read other people’s stories, share experiences, and feel seen has helped me so much.”

The Impact of Giving Back

Jessica and Isabell’s stories are just two examples of how the BHBD Foundation aims to make a difference. We regularly donate wigs and hair solutions to women facing hair loss due to medical conditions, helping them regain confidence and feel like themselves again.

For many, hair is deeply connected to identity, and losing it can be an emotional journey. Through our initiative, we hope to provide not just wigs but also support, empowerment, and a renewed sense of self-love.
