Durability & Lifespan.

Follow our advice to make your wig last for a long time.

Shredding

Shedding is an unavoidable problem for all human hair wigs. As a wig user, you have to accept a slight amount of shedding as natural. However, too much shedding can reduce the lifespan of your wig.

Here are some common reasons why your wig may be shedding excessively:

Using wrong products on the wig

Applying wrong products to your wig can cause the hair to lose moisture and become dry, which may lead to shedding. So be cautious about whitch products you choose to use on your wig

Incorrect Washing

Ensuring the longevity of your wigs involves regular washing as a vital part of maintenance. However, it's not just about frequency, the key lies in the proper washing technique. Carelessly washing your wigs can lead to tangling and hair fall-out. Therefore, it's essential to wash them gently and diligently.

Follow our washing guide

Use our recommended products for your wig. Avoid heavy and oily products as they can harm the quality of your wig. While hairspray and super hold gels can be used occasionally, be mindful that excessive use may result in shedding.

But our wigs have a very good fit, and you can adjust the wig to fit your head perfectly. So, you don't need to use glue. The lace blends well with your skin without products.

Comb your wig properly

If you want to maintain your wig's quality and minimize shedding, it's essential to use proper combing techniques. One common mistake is combing the wig from roots to ends, which can cause unnecessary pressure and tension on the roots and may result in hair strand damage.

When you start to comb the wig, always keep in mind to start from the ends to the roots, and make sure to be extra gentle when combing around the knots. Using a wide-toothed comb is recommended instead of a regular comb to avoid tangling and worsening the shedding problem.

Styling Your Wigs Simply

While changing your hairstyle daily may seem appealing, it can result in more hair shedding. This is especially true for styles like tight high ponytails or tightly pulled-back hairdos, which are more likely to cause significant hair loss.

Minimize the use of heat styling as well. Directly applying heat to the lace can cause shedding and even burn the lace. To prevent this, try to space out your heat styling sessions and keep the heat setting as low as possible. You may air-drying your wig whenever possible. And use our heatless curls for a nice style on your wig, without damage the hair.

Avoid Excessive Water Exposure

While regular washing is important for your wig's maintenance, it's advisable to avoid washing it too frequently as this can weaken the hair over time. Ideally, wash your wig when you've used styling products in it, you notice the hair is dirty, or when you've sweated in it.

Also, if you're going swimming, it's best to take off your wig or wear a swimming cap to keep it dry. Remember, swimming pools often have chlorine, which can make hair dry and brittle..

Don't Scratch Your Scalp

To protect your lace wig, don't scratch your scalp. Scratching can loosen the knots and make hair fall out. If your scalp feels itchy, try gently patting or tapping it instead of scratching. If the itching doesn't go away, it might mean your scalp is dry or has dandruff, so you might need treatment.

Nighttime Wig Care

Ideally, you should take off your wig and place it on a wig stand every night. However, if you prefer not to do that, there are other steps you can take

  • If your wig is long, gently braid it into one loose braid.

  • Wear a silk scarf or bonnet to reduce movement and prevent moisture loss while you

    sleep.

  • When you wake up, remove the bonnet or scarf, undo the braid, and continue with your regular styling routine.

Remember, friction from your pillow can cause shedding and tangling, so it's best to avoid sleeping in your wig. But following these precautions can help minimize damage.
  •

Stay away from strong sunlight

You can wear a wig in direct sunlight, but avoiding long-time exposure is important. With exposure to light, a human hair wig will become dry and fade. To keep your wig in good condition, we recommend wearing a headscarf or hat for extra protection. Also, using a UV protective spray is another way to safeguard your wig from direct sunlight.

Instead of discarding your wig because of shedding, there are several tips mentioned above that you can follow to reduce it. Keep in mind, with proper care and maintenance, your wig can stay a dependable and fashionable accessory for many months.
