Recycle & Repurpose – Our Way to Give Back
4 tons of hair extensions are thrown away in Sweden every year. We want to change that by giving used hair a new purpose – helping protect our waterways from oil pollution.
Here’s how it works:
Hair extensions often have plenty of life left, even when the attachments have worn out or you're ready for a new look. Instead of throwing your used natural hair extensions away, return them to us.
Through BHBD Recycle & Repurpose, we send them to Matter of Trust's Hair Matters programme. There, the hair is turned into mats that absorb oil pollution and help protect our waterways. Something that might have been thrown away gets a new purpose.
Here’s what we’ll do:
We will send out 100% climate-neutral e-commerce bags to BHBD’s hairdressers. They only need to brush, braid, and place the hair in the bag, then drop it in the mailbox. We cover all postage costs.

Giving hair a second life – together!
Through BHBD Recycle & Repurpose, we have donated 19 kilograms of used natural hair extensions, returned by our customers, to Matter of Trust’s Hair Matters programme.
There, the hair can be transformed into mats that absorb oil pollution and help protect our waterways – turning something that might otherwise have been discarded into a valuable resource.

What do I need to do?
Make sure the customer has washed hair, take out the extensions, brush through it and then braid it. Place the braid in your 100% climate-neutral e-commerce bag. Tag @bhbd and #recyclerepurpose so that we can share your commitment in our channels!

What does the bag cost?
The Recycle & Repurpose bag is free of charge.
Where should I turn in the bag?
Simply mail the bag to us in a regular mailbox. The mailing adress and postage is already taken care of.
Can I mix different hairs?
Yes, you can mix colors and lengths. The factory carefully selects hair that can be used for different wigs.
