Summer is around the corner, and it's that time of year many have been longing for, where we can sunbathe and swim. However, it's also a time when our hair needs extra care. We want to remind you of the color changes you may encounter during vacation and how to best avoid them, as well as how to remedy discoloration if it occurs. Sunscreen, chlorine, and saltwater are all external factors that can lead to unwanted changes in hair color, but these can be avoided by ensuring your hair is always moisturized before going out in the sun or swimming, reducing the risk of discoloration. Also, consider tying up your hair when applying sunscreen to your body to prevent contact between the two.

One of the most common causes of discoloration is when sunscreens contain avobenzone, which most sunscreens do. So, if you find a sunscreen that does not contain avobenzone, that's great, but it can be a bit challenging, so we also have some tips we want to share with you to hopefully reduce the risk of your hair becoming discolored.

To take care of your extensions this summer, we recommend regularly detoxing (using BHBD detox shampoo) and moisturizing your hair to counteract the effects of moisture deficiency, which can increase the risk of discoloration. If you notice that your hair extensions have been discolored by sunscreen or other external influences, there are some actions you can take to correct the problem.
